Hiking at Breakneck Ridge in the Hudson Valley, New York.
Hi, my name is Marina. I'm a 30-something working in a corporate job during the day. There’s nothing I love more than researching to find the perfect product or useful green living tip. Over the past 8 years, I’ve been slowly transitioning to a healthier, greener, sustainable, (insert other trendy buzzwords here) lifestyle. Many people start using non-toxic products when they are expecting a baby or if they have a health scare, but why wait for a life event to make the change? We are in charge of policing the products and foods we bring into our own homes.
I try to only use natural, non-toxic products on my body and in my home. I’m also careful about what I eat, where my food comes from, and the types of cookware and containers in my kitchen. I try to minimize my carbon footprint and use reusable containers and bags whenever possible. I also try to reduce the waste I produce, reuse items as much as I can, and recycle -- as a last resort. Read more about how to start making small changes in your own routine.
When I'm not working, I like to experiment in the kitchen, meet friends for a workout and dinner, and spend time outdoors. I decided to make clean eating a priority, so I spend a few hours a week preparing most of my meals from scratch. However, I still enjoy a few meals out per week and the occasional pizza slice and ice cream cone.
A lot of my friends turn to me for advice on the best products and ideas because they know I do my research. When I find something I like, I can't wait to tell my friends about it. As Malcom Gladwell describes in his book The Tipping Point, I am a super shopper; once I find a great product or a good deal, I tell all of my close friends immediately.
Researching each product and finding “best practices” that work for my lifestyle and the environment takes a lot of time and energy. This site is a collection of the healthy products I love to use and the tips I've discovered through my research. I’m excited to share them with you!
